Our sport club

Lappeenrannan Tanssiurheilijat Ry. was founded on 1974. The club offers ballroom dancing and solo latin dances. Tanssiurheilijat belongs to Finnish Dance Sport Federation (Suomen Tanssiurheiluliitto).  Ballroom dancing is a general name, which means standard and latin dancing and competing. Standard dances are slow walz, tango, wienese walz, foxtrot and quickstep. Latin dances include samba, cha-cha, paso doble, rumba and jive.



The clubs own instructors in beginners groups are well experienced and educated ballroom dancers. All the clubs own instructors have passed Finnish Dance Sport Federations training and exam. Once a week professional teachers visit, every second week latin and standard. The head coach in standard dances is Katri Vikman from Kotka and in latin dances Tiina Toyoki-Nuutinen from Helsinki.  


Jonna Hjerppe & Jenny Nissinen

Irina and Jonna teach childrens DanceStar group togehter. The both teachers have started dancing from very young age. Later on ballroom dancing has inspired and seduced both ladies. 

Lauri Kangasmäki & Mari Kangasmäki

Lauri and Mari Kangasmäki have taught adults beginners group for a many years now and currently teach children.  The both teachers think that in their class joyfull athmosphere is important so that everybody can enjoy dancing.  

Henry Hatakka & Terhi Virkki Hatakka

Henry and Terhi tecachadvanced group. The both have competed in the highest A-class and are experienced teachers. Henry is still actively competing and is currently one of the most successful senior dancers in the club. 

Ilkka Koskimies

Ilkka instructs  competing adults group. He has competed in high level and is highly educated teacher. One can see Ilkka also as a jury or judge in dancing competitions because he has competence and allowance to work in those positions.
